2026 Rooted Curatorial Statement
Honoring where we come from, shaping where we’re going.
When we think of something as rooted, we think of foundations that hold strong, traditions that endure, and values that bind us together. Roots connect us to the past while grounding us in the present, offering a sense of belonging, stability, and continuity.
This year’s Harrison County Arts Fashion Show celebrates Rooted through garments that honor history, heritage, craft, and the natural world. From earth-toned textiles dyed with natural pigments to silhouettes inspired by timeless cultural dress, each piece reflects the deep ties that anchor us whether to family, to community, or to the land itself.
Just as roots sustain a tree, the values and traditions we inherit sustain our identity. Our 2026 show is a celebration of where we come from, how we are connected, and the beauty of carrying those roots into the future.
