Design Theme Guidance
Designers are encouraged to explore what it means to see the world through a kaleidoscope—finding beauty in transformation, reflection, movement, and unexpected connections. Consider:
Textiles & Materials: Fabrics and materials that capture light, movement, and dimension—such as iridescent textiles, metallic accents, stained-glass-inspired color combinations, reflective surfaces, layered fabrics, translucent materials, beadwork, embroidery, or unexpected material pairings that transform with movement.
Silhouettes & Structure: Garments that explore transformation and visual intrigue through dynamic shapes, architectural forms, asymmetry, repetition, and designs that shift or reveal new perspectives as the wearer moves. Consider silhouettes inspired by geometric patterns, mosaics, prisms, or the fluid motion of a turning kaleidoscope.
Patterns & Motifs: Visual elements inspired by stained glass, shattered reflections, intricate mosaics, mandalas, crystal formations, fractals, mirrored designs, and repeating patterns. Explore how individual pieces can come together to create something larger and more extraordinary.
Color & Light: Bold combinations of color, contrast, and reflection inspired by the way light passes through a kaleidoscope. Consider vibrant jewel tones, unexpected pairings, gradients, color shifts, and the interplay between transparency and opacity.
Symbolism: Pieces that represent transformation, personal growth, memory, connection, and the beauty that emerges when different experiences come together. Like a kaleidoscope, each fragment has its own story while contributing to a larger, evolving picture.
Modern Interpretations: Combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion techniques to create garments that feel both familiar and unexpected. Explore how classic forms, materials, or techniques can be rearranged into something entirely new.
Designer Expectations
Designers are encouraged to provide their own models. Assistance is available at your request.
