I’m Somebody

Harrison County Arts presents our January 2025 member exhibition, I’m Somebody, titled after the speech delivered by Martin Luther King Jr. to Glenville High School students on April 26, 1967.

I’m Somebody the exhibition will display work by our artist members that are inspired by or relate to MLK Jr’s profound words.


Our exhibition is in partnership with the Martin Luther King Jr planning committee who have thoughtfully invited our young creator’s from Harrison Counties Middle & High Schools to participate in creating work inspired by MLK’s I’m Somebody speech.

streets weeper, sweep streets like

Michelangelo painted pictures.

Sweep streets like Shakespeare

wrote poetry.

Sweep streets like Beethoven

composed music.

Sweep streets so well that all the

hosts of heaven and earth will

have to pause and say here lived a

great streets weeper who swept

his job well."
